The vehicle (1) has a warning apparatus comprising a detection device for detecting traffic conditions in which the vehicle is located. A projection device projects a light distribution (L1) on a track (F) in a visible range of a driver for warning the driver. The light distribution has a light strip (S1) and/or changes with time as long as the detection device detects a predetermined traffic condition. The light distribution is projected depending on the detected traffic conditions. The detection device has a global positioning system (GPS) receiving unit for receiving satellite signals. An independent claim is also included for a method for warning a driver of a vehicle.
