The method involves extracting an extraction element (1) from the open area (3) through an opening (11) of the open area. The extraction element stretches in three directions (8,9,10), such that these are linear independent directions. The waste grease (7) is adhered between the attachments (5), which comprise the extraction element arranged in the former direction. The attachments are regularly arranged on the extraction element in the latter direction. The extraction element is adapted to the shape of the open area. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) an extraction element with a spring for removal of waste grease accumulated in an open area; and (2) a bearing system with an extraction element and a bearing unit.
