The method involves evaluating impact as a release or non-release event at a certain impact position (Z7). A signal (xSM) of an impact sensor (SM) nearest to the impact position and signals (xSL, xSR) of spatially distributed impact sensors (SL, SR) are considered. The signals are provided with weights to evaluate the impact. The signal of the impact sensor nearest to the impact position is provided with lower weight than the signals of the spatially distributed sensors. The signal of the impact sensor nearest to the impact position is provided with deviating weight. An independent claim is also included for a controller.
