The device (1) has an airbag control device (3) for detection of accident, where a fan motor (M) is switched off during detection of the accident. A shift element (6) e.g. relay, is arranged in a supply voltage terminal (7) of the fan motor. A control device (5) is attached to and actuates the shift element. The control device is data technical connected with the airbag control device and actuates the shift element based on data of the airbag control device. The control device is connected with a control unit (4), and the shift element is operated based on signals of the control unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a fan motor.
