The matching image points (P1,P2) in digital images (I1,I2) of object (1) at different poses and corresponding coordinates are determined. The polynomial equations are determined based on transformation equation describing transformation of pixels of image (I1) to pixels of image (I2) by translation, rotation and scaling, using image coordinates. A solution to determine change of position of object from first pose into second pose is extracted from complex solution of polynomial equations based on boundary conditions which are valid for a change of position of object. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) device for computer-aided determination of position of object; and (2) computer program product for computer-aided determination of position of object.
