The device (3) has a hollow elongated body (11) i.e. cylinder, associated with a thrust approximately perpendicular to a longitudinal axis (29) of the body, at a rear end (12) of the body. The thrust is opened at a front opposite end (13) to receive an end part of a to be crimped electric cable (1). A traverse opening (14) i.e. window, on a longitudinal wall of the body is placed at a distance from the thrust, where the value of the thrust is predetermined according to geometry of a barrel and approximately equal to a theoretical length of the crimped cable in the barrel after crimping. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a kit for preparing an end part of an electric cable intended to be crimped in a barrel of a terminal element (2) a method for controlling crimping of an end part to be crimped in an electric cable in a barrel.
