Method for characterizing color and brightness of planar zone of painting/varnish surface, of printed item in e.g. graphics industry, involves determining spectral response and using brightness value to calculate colorimetric value
The method involves measuring spectral reflectance of a zone of a test surface (1) at exit angle by using a spectral sensor (4) and measuring light reflected on the zone at an angle of specific value by using a detection device (3) simultaneously/one after another. Colorimetric values are calculated for measurement of 45/0 degrees from the reflectance measurement result. A brightness value at 45 degrees is calculated from the diffused light measurement result. A spectral response is determined according to specular intensity. The brightness value is used to calculate the colorimetric value. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for characterizing color and brightness of a planar zone of a surface (2) a computer program for implementing a method for characterizing color and brightness of a plane zone of a surface.
