Systems and methods for constructing seismic images that use velocity-based analysis based on sensitivity cores when migrating in three-dimensional anisotropic media may have enhanced stability and accuracy. It is expected that the analysis of research data using the disclosed systems and methods will provide better images of the geological environment and will allow better identification of reservoirs and deposits for commercial development. In some embodiments, the seismic survey data is migrated in the presence of an anisotropic velocity model in order to obtain the seismograms of the total angle image. These seismograms are processed to obtain residual depths along one or more horizons. The sensitivity cores of the corner region are used to convert depth discrepancies into velocity determination errors, which are then used to refine the velocity model. In this case, the user can see a representation of the structure of the geological environment, partly determined on the basis of an updated velocity model. Numerous iterations may be necessary to ensure the convergence of the velocity model. The velocity model may be layered, having constant velocity values between the seam boundaries.
