The method involves calculating a maximum total load volume as a function of a current effective working width and an optimized milling depth with respect to a preset maximum milling power. Number of truck loads required for the volume of a current milling track is calculated, and an effective total load volume of the track resulting from the maximum volume of nearest whole number of loads is determined. An adjustable total milling volume of a milling machine over a length of the track is adjusted to match the effective volume, so that a whole number of loads is resulted.
