Disclosed are a method for modifying a user question including overlapped characters based on statistical data and a device thereof. The method for modifying the user question comprises a step for determining whether or not the inputted user question corresponds to a typing error question; a step for extracting one or more modification candidate strings when the user question corresponds to the typing error question; a step for calculating candidate scores for the modification candidate strings; a step for assigning a weighted value to a corresponding string; and a step for determining a modification question from the modification candidate string according to the candidate scores and the weighted value.
