The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing metal nanoparticles and, more specifically, to a method for manufacturing metal nanoparticles which more efficiently has excellent properties using polyethylene imine as a reducing agent and a stabilizer for manufacturing nanoparticles of metal or metal oxide by reducing a precursor compound of the metal or metal oxide in a solution. According to the method for manufacturing nanoparticles of the present invention, nanoparticles can be manufactured with high efficiency when compared with an existing method, can be manufactured at relatively low temperatures, water can be used as a solvent, thereby providing great advantages to industrial and environmental aspects. Moreover, a nanoplate which is advantageous to give catalytic, optical, and electrical properties only with a simple condition change can be manufactured with high efficiency.
