The filter ring is horizontally inserted into a paper filter bag that is inserted into a paper filter holder of an electric coffee maker, where the filter ring comprises a larger diameter for fitting the filter ring in the paper filter bag such that the filter ring horizontally rests adjacent to an upper edge in an inner side of the paper filter bag. The filter ring has an approximately equal distance from the upper edge of the paper filter bag. The filter ring is made from an appropriate material that is suitable for preparation of hot beverages.
