The method involves detecting the topographical condition of driving surface which is situated ahead in the travel direction of motor vehicle (7). The movement behavior of the vehicle when driving over the driving surface is predicted by a model. The chassis of the motor vehicle is set based on the predicted movement behavior of vehicle. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a system for optimizing performance of motor vehicle while driving; and (2) a computer program for optimizing performance of motor vehicle while driving.
