The winding support has a cylindrical-shaped laminated core (2) that is formed with angularly offset longitudinal grooves (4a,4b), and is associated with windings of a needle winding system (10). The windings of a wire bundle (5) is connected in longitudinal grooves, such that wire bundle regions are connected with each other at front end of the laminated core as coil heads (6a,6b). The wire bundle regions of coil heads are accommodated in a cladding element, such that windings are wound into longitudinally-open cladding element during winding process. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing winding of winding support.
