The method involves generates an initial map of heat flow to the base of a sedimentary basin for each geological time by a basin simulator (EXT), and determining a heat flow at the base of the basin on the level of a well (PUI), where the heat flow is coherent with thermal data on the level of the well. A heat flow map of the basin is generated by interpolation (INT), for each geological time, of the heat flow at the base of the basin, where the interpolation is constrained by the initial heat flow map. The basin is exploited (EXP) by the heat flow maps for each geological time. An independent claim is also included for a computer program product for exploiting a sedimentary basin crossed by a well.
