The table has a set of sensors (21, 22) that is able to be placed so as to evaluate a set of distances between a set of parts such as head (61), of a patient lying on the table on one hand, and to evaluate a portion of the table on another hand. A mattress is able to be deformed by the patient, where the mattress is placed on a panel. The panel is indeformable by the patient. A surface covered by the set of sensors is sufficient to evaluate parts of the patient on the one hand and the portion of the table on another hand. An independent claim is also included for a method for estimation of position of a patient on a table.
