The invention relates to a method for preparing polyorganosiloxane (POS) by a ring(s)-opening polymerisation and/or linear, non-linear or cyclic POS redistribution in the presence of a nucleophile carbene The aim of said invention is to offer an improved method for preparing POS by means of an efficient catalytic system at a low temperature, wherein the initial (for example of D4) efficiency of the POS conversion is substentially increased in comparison with a preceding state of the art in such a way that the initial POS (for example of D4) residual content is less than before. For this purpose, the following components are used: 500g of POS and/or POScy (i.e. D4), 0-10 g, preferably 0.5-2 g of chain stopper (i.e. M2), 0-10g, preferably 0.01-1g of a carbene salt precursor (formulas (III) or (III'), i.e. imidazolium salt), 0-10g, preferably 0.01-0.5g of base (i.e. t-Bu-OK) and 0.1-10 ml of a solvent (i.e.THF).
