The invention relates to a method for determining a space coordinate of a measuring point on a test object. According to said method, a probing head is placed (66) on the measuring point, said probing head being disposed on a displacement mechanism having at least two supports. An actual difference between the displacement positions of a first and a second support is determined (72). This actual difference is used to determine the space coordinate of the measuring point. According to an aspect of the invention, a statistical differential value is provided and subtracted from the actual difference, thereby obtaining a dynamic differential value (74). The space coordinate is determined by using the dynamic differential value (76, 82).
