METHOD FOR INCREASING THE CONVERSION RATE OF FLAT-GLASS OR CONTAINER GLASS BATCHES TO GLASS MELT BY UTILIZING AN ALKALI-ALKALINE EARTH CARBONATE MELT HAVING AN ALKALINE EARTH CARBONATE CONTENT OF BETWEEN 10 AND 62 BY WEIGHT
The invention relates to a method for increasing the conversion rate of flat-glass or container glass batches to glass melt by utilizing an alkali-alkaline earth carbonate melt having an alkaline earth carbonate content of between 10 and 62% by weight. The speed of the conversion of the glass batch to the glass melt is essential for the energy input required in the production of a glass melt. The aim of the invention is to increase the speed of conversion of flat-glass or container glass batches to glass melt and to thus keep the energy input required to convert the glass batch to the glass melt as low as possible. For this purpose, an alkali-alkaline earth carbonate melt having an alkaline earth carbonate content of between 10 and 62% by weight is used.
