The present invention provides a novel enzyme having the activity of exoglucanase and beta-glucosidase, and a method for producing glucose from cellulose using the same. The present invention relates to a process for producing cellulodextrin by lowering the degree of polymerization of cellulose using an ionic liquid and a solid acid catalyst to produce a cellulosic product of a single enzyme 1,4-beta-di-glucan having exoglucanase and beta-glucosidase activity Glucohydrolase is treated to produce glucose. The present invention has advantages in that the process is simple and the cost is reduced because glucose can be produced using only one enzyme as compared with a conventional method of producing glucose requiring three types of enzymes which are essentially necessary. Glucose produced by the present invention can be applied to a saccharification fermentation concurrent process or a saccharification fermentation continuous process in connection with a saccharification process and a fermentation process capable of producing various biochemical materials. Glucose prepared by the present invention can be directly used as a raw material for producing various bio-platform chemicals and derivatives.
