The present invention relates to a method for calculating a driving speed of a forklift using an image recognition algorithm. The method for calculating a driving speed of a forklift using an image recognition algorithm includes: a feature point position coordinate setting step of installing a correction pattern including multiple feature points on a working area in which a forklift works and measuring and storing actual position coordinate information of the each feature point; a feature point position information matching step of photographing the correction pattern using a camera installed in the forklift and matching the actual position coordinate information of the feature points and position information on the feature points on a photographed image to store the same; an image frame extracting step of extracting a first image frame photographed at a first time point and a second image frame photographed at a second time point; a feature point extracting step of setting any one of subjects included in the first image frame and the second image frame as a reference subject and extracting the two feature points corresponding to the position of the reference subject in the first image frame and the second image frame; a reference subject moving speed calculating step of calculating a moving speed of the reference subject by extracting the actual position coordinate information corresponding to the extracted two feature points; and a forklift driving speed determining step of determining a driving speed of the forklift using the moving speed of the reference subject. According to the present invention, as the driving speed of the forklift is simply calculated only with the image frame at different time point in an indoor space in which the speed of the forklift is difficult to be measured as a GPS is hardly received. So, when an accident of the forklift occurs, it is easily determined whether the forklift speeds.
