The present invention relates to a catalyst comprising a sponge-like material, more particularly a rhenium-promoted nickel sponge, that shows high and stable performance in dry reforming of methane, as well as to a method of dry reforming of methane utilizing said catalyst and a method for the fabrication thereof.
