FIELD: medicine.;SUBSTANCE: brain is stabilized by flow-through fixation in a fixing solution based on 10% formalin, which is poured into the cranial cavity through the hole made in the occipital bone and dura mater. Localization of the perforation place of the dura mater is determined with the help of tomographic volumetric scanning, according to the results of which the place where the dura mater and the brain location are most distant from each other is determined. The fixing solution is fed into the cranial cavity by drop infusion. The cranium is placed in a container with a fixing solution, which completely covers it. By the time when the cranium is immersed in the fixing fluid, the brain is frozen. The fixation process is carried out at room temperature. The proposed method for fixating the brain of a fossil late-Pleistocene mammal using the fixing solution based on 10% formalin provides stabilization of the brain with its gradual thawing, preserving its integral state, suitable for further scientific study and exhibiting in museums.;EFFECT: method allows to fixate the brain of the fossil late-Pleistocene mammal without extraction from the cranial cavity.;3 cl
