The present invention relates to a face detection and recognition module which comprises: a register interface for obtaining a first command and a first address through a first port; a memory mapped register for storing register values corresponding to each of the first addresses; a register address decoder and event generator for converting a register value corresponding to the first address, and generating an event; a memory interface for obtaining a second command, a second address, and image data through a second port; a data memory for storing data corresponding to each of the second addresses; a memory address decoder for storing the image data in the data memory by using the second address; and a face detector and recognizer for performing face detection and recognition according to a state and the event, and storing a result of the face detection and recognition in the memory mapped register. The face detection and recognition module generates a small number of events and provides transmission accuracy per clock cycle.
