A 3D model surface is then generated using the obtained at least two current positions of the feed rods as reference points, and the generated surface is translated in a predetermined direction, thereby generating, on a machine tool (100, 200), a 3D model that is to be used in an interference simulation for determining whether there is interference between the spindle-side component and the table-side component.
