To enhance the cycle characteristic of a nonaqueous secondary battery.SOLUTION: An active material comprising first and second active materials is used in a negative electrode. The first active material includes nano silicon taking on a structure in which six-membered rings constituted by silicon atoms are arranged in a row, and manufactured by performing a thermal treatment on a layered polysilane expressed by the composition formula, (SiH)n. The second active material includes graphite. The active material enables the relaxation of a stress caused by expansion and contraction during charge and discharge, and enhances cycle characteristics.SELECTED DRAWING: None
