Carbon dots for diagnostic analysis and drug delivery

The present disclosure provides a method of forming carbon dots, comprising mixing carbon powder with sulfuric acid and nitric acid, and reflux heating the carbon powder mixture to oxidize the carbon powder. The method further comprises isolating and purifying the carbon dot. The present disclosure further provides the application of carbon dots to diagnostic analysis (eg bone analysis), fibrillation inhibition, and drug delivery.
