The invention relates to the oil production industry. A method for enhanced oil recovery from formations comprises pumping into a well formation at least one cycle consisting of a plug with a displacement fluid, including components of a composition containing an acrylamide polymer, ultradisperse silicon-containing solid particles, a crosslinking agent in the form of salts of polyvalent metals, and water, or at least one cycle of successive alternating plugs with a displacement fluid, including components of the above-mentioned composition. Furthermore, the successive alternating plugs are in the form of the following successively pumped plugs: an aqueous solution of an acrylamide polymer, an aqueous solution of salts of polyvalent metals, and an aqueous suspension of ultradisperse silicon-containing solid particles. A composition for enhanced oil recovery from formations comprises an acrylamide polymer, ultradisperse silicon-containing solid particles, a crosslinking agent in the form of salts of polyvalent metals, and water, with the following ratio of components: 0.005-3.0% by mass of acrylamide polymer; 0.5-5.0% by mass of ultradisperse silicon-containing solid particles; 0.0005-3.0% by mass of salts of polyvalent metals; with the remainder being water.
