Provided by the present invention are a method for optimizing the storage space of a smart terminal and a device for optimizing storage space, the method for optimizing storage space comprising the following steps: moving an installation file of at least one application program within a system partition of a smart terminal to a data partition of the smart terminal; marking the at least one application program within the data partition as being uninstallable; and restoring the smart terminal to the factory settings. After the present technical solution is implemented, an application program required by a user is retained, and storage space is cleaned differently, while storage resources of a system partition are saved.
