In a method for detecting effector type regulatory T cells using flow cytometry, a control sample containing a population of CD4 positive T cells is measured, and FOXP3 contained in the population of CD4 positive T cells is measured based on the measurement result of the control sample. The amount of FOXP3, which is a division standard when the positive T cell population is divided at a predetermined ratio, is obtained as a reference value used in the measurement of the biological sample, and the biological sample containing the CD4 positive T cell population is measured to obtain the biological sample. Based on the result of the measurement, the effector-type regulatory T cells are detected from the population of cells having a larger amount of FOXP3 than the reference value.
