method for estimating fluid properties in rock formations at selected geodesic sites within a geological basin a method for estimating fluid properties in rock formations at selected locations within a geological basin includes generating an initial model of the basin. the model includes the spatial output distribution, at least, of the mineral composition of the rock formation, porosity of the rock formation and fluid composition in the porosity of the rock formation. an initial estimate of the fluid composition is generated at least for a rock formation at least at a selected location within the basin. a fluid sample is extracted from the pores, at least, of a rock formation, inside a well drilled therein. the composition of the fluid sample is analyzed inside the well. the basin's initial model is adjusted, so that the model's predictions correspond substantially to the analyzed fluid composition. the adjusted model is used to generate an initial estimate of the fluid composition at least at an additional geodesic location within the basin.
