Energy-Efficient Microcomputers: Guidelines on Acquisition, Management, and Use

This document has several purposes: To provide additional technical informationto support the FIRMR Interim Rule 1 and FIRMR Bulletin C-35 which implement Executive order 12845; To issue guidelines that promote energy efficiency in the acquisition, management, and use of microcomputers, associated equipment, and local area networks (LANs); To increase energy-saving awareness for computer end users, LAN administrators, and system managers in Federal agencies; To identify current programs and resources that promote energy-efficient microcomputers and peripherals; and To encourage industry to 'mainstream' energy-efficient features into their microcomputers and related equipment.
