This report describes the theoretical design of a three camera Michelson211u001einterferometer set-up for quantitative refractive index measurements. Although a 211u001etwo camera system is easier to align and less expensive, a three camera 211u001einterferometer is preferred because the expected measuring accuracy is much 211u001ebetter. Here analytical expressions are found for the calculation of the required 211u001ealignment accuracy of the interferometer's components: three CCD-cameras (six 211u001edegrees of freedom each), a quarter wave plate (one degree of freedom) and a 211u001epolarizer (one degree of freedom). Also the required accuracy in the 211u001enormalization of the intensity levels on the CCD-cameras is calculated.
