摘要

The study of the interaction of aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) with polydimethylsiloxane (Silastic) was continued. It was established that the APTES reaction rendered the Silastic hydrophilic in an irreversible manner. The APTES modified Silastic was converted to its hydrochloride salt and reacted with sodium heparinate to bind the heparin to the polymer. A procedure was devised for fabricating a steel reinforced Gott vena cava ring which is suitable for the renal embolus test. Preliminary results indicate a moderate degree of thromboresistance. A colorimetric assay for heparinized Silastic materials was developed and attempts were made to correlate this with clotting-time data.
