摘要

The rate of stable crack propagation in fiberglass laminates was investigated under static and dynamic loading conditions in wet and dry environments. Crack propagation rates were measured as a function of the stress intensity factor over several decades in each case,and total specimen lifetimes were also recorded. The dynamic crack growth data were in good agreement with predictions based on a simple theoretical model,but no accurate prediction of the static results was possible. The effect of water in each case was to increase the crack growth rate for dynamic (cyclic) loading,but to decrease the rate for static loading.
