The Bartlesville Small Sample Analysis System for CO, CO2, CH4and O2,the Ecolyzer 2600CO Monitor,the Texas Instruments Mine Air Monitor for CO, NO2and O2,the Beckman 868 CO2Analyzer,the McMillan 2100Instrument for NO and NO2,and the Palmes' NO2Dosimeter. The mine data collected with these instruments were analyzed in various ways and a number of significant trends and correlations were found. A computer program was developed for presentation of measurement data as a log normal frequency plot for prediction of the frequency in which a specified 8hour time weighted average concentration would be exceeded. Particulate matter samples were collected by Nuclepore filters,the Casella thermal precipitator,and the Andersen 2000mini-sampler impactor. These were analyzed on the scanning and transmission electron microscopes. Both collection and analytical methods were evaluated. A Mine Air Monitoring Laboratory employing laboratory-type instrumentation was designed and constructed. It can alternately monitor up to 4sample sites for CO, CO2,NO,and NO2with ranges to cover concentrations produced by diesel equipment and during blasting,and for particulate matter in number concentration for sizes ranging from 0.0032to 1micrometer.
