This report considers the problem of surface mine landslide on fill benches,head-of-hollow fills,and haul roads in the Eastern Coal Field of Kentucky. The primary emphasis of this report is to identify the causes of slides on surface mining operations. It includes the criteria,parameters,and methodology developed to achieve this end. This report presents a summary of findings,conclusions,and recommendations. Tables,figures,and computer data supporting this summary are included in the body and the appendices of this report.
