摘要

Determinants of job satisfaction and satisfaction with supervision in mental health agencies was studied. Findings demonstrated that job satisfaction and satisfaction with supervision were primarily determined by leadership practices within the agencies. Specific attitudes and skills which leaders can develop to achieve high subordinate job satisfaction were identified. While job satisfaction is important in itself, it is also linked to other important factors such as absenteeism, turnover, and agency performance. While clarity of goals was not related to satisfaction in this study, the low degree of clarity of goals was troubling since clear, specific goals are powerful motivators for high performance.
