The eight papers in this volume analyze accident data to address various questions concerning traffic accident injuries. All eight were written by members of the Crashworthiness Group, Mathematical Analysis Division, National Center for Statistics and Analysis, between February 1980 and April 1981. The topics addressed include injury types, injury consequences, injury coding, passenger vehicle restraint performance, and crash severity measures. The principal accident data sources are the Fatal Accident Reporting System (FARS), the National Crash Severity Study (NCSS), and the National Accident Sampling System (NASS).
