摘要

The background to self-tuning control systems design is introduced. Reasons why self-tuning should be used are given. An elementary self-tuner for tuning a PI regulator based on an estimated model is presented. Adaptive control is introduced for the case of a plant with an unknown gain where the control objective is to regulate the output to a given set-point despite load disturbances.
