Objectives of this demonstration project are to verify the clean coal technology to be diffused in China and Indonesia, and consolidate the diffusion basis, to suppress the generation of environmental pollutants with coal utilization in these countries, and to contribute to the stable security of energy in Japan. The demonstration project of briquette production facilities, which is a technology of reducing the dust and SOx emissions with coal utilization, has been conducted at the Lini Mining Bureau, China, and at the Tanjun Enim Coal Mine, Indonesia. At Lini, briquettes are produced in a mixing proportion of bituminous coal-lime mixture and corn, 0.95/0.15. Their shape is pillow-type, their collapse strength is 40 kgf, and the desulfurization rate is over 50%. At the Tanjun Enim Coal Mine, semi-coke is produced from coal, to prepare ball briquettes by adding lime, clay, and binder. Their shape is massive-type, their collapse strength is over 40 kgf, and their heating value is around 6,000 kcal/kg.
