At the Institute of Gas Technology (IGT). we have studied the techno-economic feasibility of chemical energy carriers. Specifically, the chemical energy carriers analyzed were hydro¬gen, as a gas and as a liquid, and liquid ammonia. Although the production and transmission of hydrogen and ammonia for overland applications has been considered and researched, considerable study of the technical factors, potential costs, plant designs, and efficiencies is required before these materials can. realistically, be considered suitable for ocean energy trans¬mission.
