The amount of load relaxation which can be expected in the W88 Titanium Mounting Ring is summarized. We have performed analytical estimates of the amount of stress relaxation under uniaxial loading conditions, using room temperature creep data for Ti-6A1-4V alloy which was generated in support of previous Sandia programs. In addition, we performed load-relaxation experiments up to 1000 hours duration on torque-loaded model components in order to evaluate experimentally the amount of load relaxation under loading conditions which are identical to those experienced by the mounting ring. Results of both approaches indicate that the amount of load relaxation during a thirty-year component life will not be enough for concern. (ERA citation 13:036795)
