Emergency Department Pain Management During Thrombolytic Therapy For AcuteMyocardial Infarction: A Descriptive Study

Thrombolytic therapy constitutes the standard of practice for patients whopresent to the hospital with AMI. But how is pain management integrated into this scenario in the emergency department (ED). To date, no one has explored the timeliness, frequency or effectiveness of pain management in the ED while persons experiencing AMI are started on thrombolytic agents. The purpose of this study was to analyze to what extent pain management is integrated into thrombolytic therapy initiated in the ED. A retrospective chart review was conducted utilizing a thrombolytic administration data retrieval form designed for ED records.
