Weyl's Theory Applied to Predissociation by Rotation. III. Jeffreys' Approximation.

It is shown that a method due to Jeffreys can be used at the outermost classical turning point of a barrier penetration problem to construct a good approximation to the asymptotically correct Weyl solution. Compared to the previously introduced Weyl-Titchmarsh-Riccati technique, this Weyl-Titchmarsh-Jeffreys method allows a more efficient calculation of the m function, particularly for sharp resonances. Both alternatives are numerically compared to LeRoy and Bernstein's Airy function boundary condition method for some predissociating states of HgH. (Author)
