A broad assessment is made of the technological development required to improve the overall readiness of all weather attack avionic systems to be developed in the 1980-1990 time frame. The projected state-of-the-art in the post 1980 time frame is briefly outlined and the additional development required to achieve significant improvements in system readiness is summarized. Areas of technological risk are identified.
