Synthesis of Heterobimetallic Complexes from Carbonyl Complexes of Bis(diisopropylamino)Phosphine

The preliminary observations described in this communication suggest that the selective cleavage diisopropylamino groups from metal carbonyl complexes of (i-Pr2N)2PH can lead ultimately to a rich variety of interesting heterobimetallic derivatives. These derivatives contain potentially reactive phosphorus-nitrogen bonds in contrast to the numerous known diarylphosphido heterobimetallic derivatives such as WIrH(mu-PPh2)2(CO)5(PPh3),6(OC)4Mn(mu-PR2)(mu-H)Mo(CO)2Cp (R = p-tolyl),7 (OC)5W(mu-PPh2)Re(CO)4, and Cp2ZrW(mu-PPh2)2(CO)4.
