They have flowers that provide the protein (in pollen) and carbohydrates (in nectar) that lady beetles, lacewings, and other beneficials need to thrive and produce more offspring. When the pest insects they feed on are in short supply, some adult bene ficials seek out pollen and nectar as a supplemental food source. Others feast on flower power exclusively (and their larvae feed on the pests).
