GlobalSantaFe has sold jackup the GSF Adriatic VII, which was damaged during Hurricane Rita in 2005, for a purchase price of approximately USD 30 million. The new owner of the MLT 116-C design jackup is believed to be Lynemouth Drilling Ltd., with Foresight Drilling understood to be the manager. GlobalSantaFe says it is still deciding whether to sell jackup GSF High Island III, which was also damaged during the hurricane season, to a third party or to declare it a constructive total loss. Essar Oilfields Services (EOSL) purchased semi Transocean Wildcat from Vildkat Holdings, a Energy Equipment Resources Company affiliate, for around USD 220 million. Essar took delivery of the rig in the UK and will re-name it Essar Wildcat. The unit has been awarded a multi-well contract by GSPC for work off India, and it is understood the rig will undergo some refurbishment work before being deployed. The rig is rated for work in water depths up to 411 msw (1,350 fsw) and has drilling depth capacity of up to 25,000ft. It is equipped with a topdrive, automatic pipe handling and rough weather BOP launch system. Essar plans to invest over USD 400 million in future acquisitions of land and offshore rigs.
