Here's a look at good farm shop ideas from across the South. Nearly everyone in agriculture has a place to work on equipment and store tools, but some are much more handy than others. We contacted growers across the South recently to see what they are doing with farm shops and work areas so we could share some good ideas with you. The following items are some of the many good examples we found of efficiency-minded shop ideas. Convenience, size, accessibility, security and looks were all consideredwhen Jonathan Rose and his father-in-law, Eddie Braswell, built a new shop on their farm north of Lawrenceburg, Tenn. The 100-foot by 70-foot shop, with 20-foot walls and a gable height of 36 feet, provides room for the largest equipment used in any ofRose's farming operations. Large double doors on both ends of the building and a single door on the front side give easy access to all areas of the shop. The three-door design allows equipment to be moved in and out without repositioning other equipmentthat might be in the shop for repairs or storage. Walk-in doors are also located at both ends.
